Websites For Landscaping Business Owners - Are They Necessary?

Landscaping business owners always ask if it is necessary to have their own website. As I have discussed in a previous article, your target audience goes online to find information on whatever they are looking for. So let’s say that they do a search with Google to find a landscaping company in their area. If your landscaping business doesn't have a website, there is no way your business will be found. On the other hand, if your company does have a website, that person searching can find you. (Just by having a website doesn't guarantee people will find it, you must optimize your site) So they click on the link to your website and find out all about the company and actually see some sample pictures of the work you have done. Your chances of them contacting you for an estimate greatly increase.

Let me make give you a real life example. There is a landscaping company in Arizona that is listed with LawnCareDirectory.com. For a long time they were the only company on the AZ page that had a link to their website. Well because Arizona is one of the most searched states and they were the only company with a webpage, they get all of the work. This was the only advertising they did. The owner called me one time to tell me about the job he had just won worth more than $25,000. Not bad for a free listing he had through LawnCareDirectory.com and all because he had a website for the client to look at.

Let's talk about what to put on your landscaping business website. The most important thing you can do is put your phone number in big bold letters somewhere at the top of every page on the site. Your website needs to be very clear in the services you offer. It should have pictures of work you have done. If you don't have any pictures of your work, get a nice looking picture off of the internet and put a message next to it saying something like, "We can make your yard look like this." Make sure you post your email address on the site for those who don't want to call. You may even consider a form people can fill out.

I recommend that you make your website have at least 3 to 4 different pages. This reason for this is for optimization purposes. To find out more about optimizing your website for the search engines, read this article. Each page should be a different theme. For example your home page introduces your company and has at least one picture. Then you could have a services page that lists all of the services you offer. A good third page would be a contact us page where all of your contact information would be listed. If you want to add more pages feel free. The more the better.

Having your own unique website is a powerful tool. It can be the difference in getting a new client or losing out to the next guy who had a website. You need to have an online presence. If not, you are just throwing away many opportunities for new clients.
